Sgt. Alexander Wiseman Milroy, formerly of the Royal Corps of Signals, served with No.6 Troop of No.6 Commando from, at least, November 1941.
Alexander was KIA on
26th February 1943
, aged 28 years, during the 'Battle of Steamroller Farm' North Africa. He was the son of James and Catherine Lawrie Milroy; husband of Marjorie Betty Milroy (aka Plows), of Putson,
Hereford and is survived by a
son
. Alexander was laid to rest in

. Grave 6.H.12. In a letter to his widow written in April 1943 Lt-Col. Derek Mills-Roberts described Sgt. Milroy as 'a gallant fellow who fought magnificently on the day that he was killed. The loss of a non-commissioned officer of his calibre is always a serious matter for the Commando, but in addition he was popular and greatly respected.'
